Mr Aidan O’Brien – Deputy Principal

A warm welcome to all visitors to our school website. Quite apart from its functionality in providing information on calendars, policies and such like, I hope this can also be a place where you garner a sense of what life in the Good Counsel community is like. With a daily population of over 900 people on the campus it is a vibrant place with many happenings and much to tell. We look forward to bringing a flavour of this to you.

I extend a particular invitation to past pupils of the school to keep in touch with us through our website, or better still, to get in touch. Never hesitate to drop in if passing, to e – mail or write. Perhaps this can be a ‘cyber’ meeting place where old acquaintances are renewed and memories revisited.

Whatever your reason for visiting this website, we thank you for doing so and send you our best wishes.

Beannacht Dé oraibh go léir.

Mr PJ Walsh – Deputy Principal

As we begin a new school year I’m reminded of the words of St Augustine “there’s no saint without a past, no sinner without a future .” I hope that all members of our school community will reflect on these words and try to bring a positive, respectful and caring attitude to all their endeavours and relationships over the coming year.

As individuals we have the chance to be a positive influence on all those whom we encounter in everyday school life, so let’s embrace this chance and view any challenges that may arise along our journey as stepping stones and not as stumbling blocks and by so doing continue to foster an environment of mutual respect based on the Augustinian values of “Unity, Truth and Love.”

Finally let me finish by asking you to contemplate on the words of Earl Nightingale “we become what we think about.”

So let’s think positively, dream big and work hard to achieve our goals.

Mr. PJ Walsh

  1. Congratulations on reaching the final of the Junior Football on Saturday. I regret I cannot attend but my good wishes are with you. It takes me back a few years…to 1951 to be exact when we won the. Leinster Juniors(A) in Carlow. The team manager was Fr Jackie Power..now retired to Ballyboden.the team included Kevin Coffey who won an All-Ireland with Kerry. Also Eric Ryan who played with Cork. Also Eddie Mulvey who played for Limerick FC.Also Tommy Farrell who won 5 or 6 FAI League and Cup medals with Shamrock RoversFC. (Tommy, RIP. Was an uncle of Colin Farrell, the actor). At the time the pupil population was 85 boarders and :15 or 16 Day boys.
Paddy O’Brien (1950 -1955) the best days of your life…you can believe.Rath De oraibh go lei rag us go n-Siri an t- ADHD libh
